Bringing an Object to The Center

The Chicago Conservation Center looks forward to the opportunity to assist clients, whether private individuals or institutional collections; on projects of all types, large or small. While initial estimates can be provided in some instances from images submitted by email, our normal procedure is to have works brought or shipped to The Center for assessment by the Head Conservators of each department.

The examination process is undertaken at no charge for collections of 49 or fewer items, and with no obligation to proceed with treatment. The conservators' assessments generally require 10 to 14 days to complete, resulting in a formal written treatment proposal including all relevant pricing provided to the client for review. Proposals can be sent by mail, email or fax based upon the client's preference. Conservation treatment is undertaken only with the client's signed authorization to proceed. A one-half pre-payment is required for all projects.

Our shipping department is happy to work with our clients to assist with transportation arrangements to or from The Center as necessary.
